Post-session

Better. Kinda what yesterday should've been. Small, mushy wind-swell with the inside end-corner bowl working and mushburgers pushing all the way to the terminus.

Post-session

Extremely disappointing. Expected more--not necessarily bigger--wave action. It was weak and dribble-y. Not until the end of the session were the waves standing up and showing some wall.

Post-session

Windy. More wave action.

New energy. I don't know where this new swell came from, but it's frickin' going off.

Blood Sugar Sex Magik

But not in that order. My new board is fo' real, my friends. Muhjeek.

It's funny, though--ain't it?--that no matter how well a board might be able to perform, its functionality is limited by the ability of the user? Board is what rider does. (I've been struggling at times the previous few days.)

And the Vector II 437s in Black Stix that I'm using seem to be the summit of existing high-performance shortboard fin technology. Could they be the perfect setup? I think so. For now. To all you guys still stuck with FCS or using any other Future models: you're missing out on increasing your board's potential.

Post-session

Awesome! Insane. Best one for me so far this year. It looked out of control, and one of the regulars who had just gotten out said it was un-doable and caught only two waves in one hour. So I was pessimistic.

When I got out, the bigger sets were closing. But once I found the bowl in the middle area (as opposed to waiting on the outside) soon thereafter, I caught waves non-stop for about two hours. It was a machine. Solid 1-3, lined-up walls breaking in the same, exact bowl one after another. I'm not kidding. And it was a blast because it was also challenging: choppy (and windy) with lots of push and steep/double-y.

Finally near the end of the session, several regulars came out, and it got crowded. For the last hour, or so, my wave count slowed, but I was still snagging stuff at least every few minutes. By the time I went in, I was burnt and surfed out. Three hours of continual surfing.

And what totally enhanced the experience was my new board. It's magic. I know, I know: whenever I get a new stick I get hysterical. But truly this one *is* it.

Ready

Just picked up my new board. Nothing different: same model and dimensions.

Heard that a certain spot in Waikiki was going off this morning. Solid 2-3, lined up, and not crowded. I asked the guy, "So you was killing it?" "Schmall kine," he replied with a big grin.

Yee-hah. Bring it on.
