Start my new job today. This marks the beginning of my new routine. On work days, I will be surfing in the morning and need to get home by noon.
We're supposed to get another south swell next week. So won't have to start making The Trek just yet.

It's bigger than yesterday. Disorganized and random, like wind swell but without the strong wind. There were some head-high. Then when the wind turned almost-calm, the waves died too.

Not bigger. Quite miserable, actually. But it's not flat -- not quite. Conditions are good.
The mechanic of a friend is going to charge me $400 to fix my car. That includes replacing the head gasket and all related work and a tune-up. So it looks like I'll be keeping the beater for now.

Smaller than yesterday. Windy and sloppy. Surfed the A-frame-ster again. I'm satisfied.
So yesterday on the way to work, my car blew a head gasket on the freeway. I'm bummed. The car is a junk, so fixing it is not feasible, especially considering the amount of money I've already sunk into it. Any more expense is simply not a smart move. Enough, already.
It would be nice to buy a new car. But I don’t think I can pull that off. So I'll be looking for a good used one. What a hassle.
I wish everything could stay easy and comfortable, you know, no upset. But that's not how life is, huh?

Hope there's something. Yesterday was windy and sloppy, but I was having fun -- until I saw a shark, a small one. Usually that doesn't bother me, but because I was out alone I got spooked. It made me really paranoid, and I couldn't relax. So I went in much earlier than I would've otherwise and I felt unsatisfied.

My friend called a little while ago. He just got out of the water and said it's bigger than yesterday.
Speaking of yesterday, I had an awesome time. It was just me, and the conditions were very good. I snagged countless juicy, lined-up, A-frame pits.
I hope it's good today. Will be heading to the beach soon.

Finally. Got the cam operational. It was a cable issue. Gosh, that took some effort. Images from that unit won’t be uploaded to the site, though, until I can install the USB video capture dongle, which is on the way from Amazon.
Gonna head to the beach soon. Will check the same place I surfed yesterday, which is close to my usual spot. Hoping it'll be empty, as it is typically.

Busy
Sorry, didn't post yesterday. Did my usual -- went surfing, etc. -- but in my spare time was totally caught up in trying to install my new Web cam. Have encountered some problems. Mounted it on the top of my apartment building with coaxial cable running down to my place. Had to drill a path through one of the window frames for the wire. Sounds easy and straightforward, right? Ha, ha. There's a signal but no clear picture. Will be troubleshooting this morning.
There were waves yesterday. I was surprised. About 1-3 with maybe some 4s. Had fun.

Open Men: first round, 6th (last) place, eliminated. Senior Men: 5th place. The waves got better as the day progressed. I just couldn't get it together.

Morning Check
Out the door soon and headed to Queen's for today's event. As usual, I'm doing two divisions, Open and Senior. There's supposed to be some small ones, about chest-high, and apparently this weak swell might build in the afternoon (sure, right). I'll probably come home between divisions to kill time because I live so close and because I'll likely be eliminated in the first round (how's that for confidence?).

Hope there's something, anything. Yesterday my chest was bothering me, and I had some difficulty paddling. I think it's an old injury that's flaring up, a bruised bone. I took some ibuprofen and hopefully that'll help. Of course, to relieve the pain is to treat the symptom only and not the cause.
