Post-session
Seemed to be something pushing in. But near the end I wasn't so sure.
Where is everyone? Surf into Summer? It's empty.

Seemed like some new energy, albeit faint (or was it the tide?). I think there's something out there. Straight south.

Post-session
There's something, but it's messy and sloppy. Could be worse, I guess.
I'm off today because I'm going to the Diana Krall concert this evening. Should be nice.
Pretty disappointed in my performance yesterday. And I feel that I should've finished a bit higher in the Senior. Didn't think I deserved last (6th) place.

Yesterday's Results
Open: first round, 4th place, eliminated. Senior: first round, 3rd place, advance; finals, 6th place.

Here We Are Again
I had a good session yesterday. Surfed a left-hander, one of my old regular spots, to practice for today's event. It was fun. I was so-o satisfied with my surfing.
My backhand was rusty, yes, but I was executing pretty well, especially on the bigger set-waves. I did tend to struggle on the smaller ones, though. But on those outside ones, my backside attack came alive and I felt like I had never left my once-favorite break. The rights I took provided the platform for some good snaps, as well.
Overall, I'm quite happy with how things went. I hope I can execute like that today. I saw photos on the Web of yesterday, and it looks like it was going off at Kewalo's--both right and lefts. This has the potential to be one of our better events of the season in terms of wave quality. We'll see...

Fun time at one of my old spots, a left-hander. Needed to practice my backhand because the next event scheduled for tomorrow at Kewalo's is on. It's much smaller than yesterday.

Just got back. Smaller, with moderate trades. Showing signs, though, for sure. Everybody was out--several pros, both longies and shorties--and it was a circus.

Drowning At DH
Okay, I found a small entry in the Advertiser's Police Beat section:
Man pulled from ocean diesA 41-year-old man died after he was found unconscious in waters off Diamond Head Beach yesterday afternoon. Police said surfers found the man floating face-down at about 4:15 p.m. The surfers brought the man to shore and an ambulance took him to Straub Clinic and Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. His name was not released last night. An autopsy will be conducted.
