Not So Easily
If you're going down, you might as well take some people with you, right?

Small and windy, but I had fun on my new board. This is the first day that it worked well for me.
It's been a week, and finally my board revealed itself. It blew my mind. Too early to tell yet; but, my friends, we just might have a magic board on our hands.

The Usual
Decided to pass on the Open division. Surfed a left-hander beforehand instead, and then drove out to Sandy's.
Just as I pulled up, everyone started telling me my name was being called and that my heat was heading out. Then I heard my name for check-in on the loudspeakers as I circled around looking for parking. The guys in the tent told me to double-park right there and grab my jersey. So that's what I did and then went to the water and paddled out.
I was laughing at myself because I hadn't been sure if I was even going to the event at all. It was heartening to have all the support, you know, all the guys looking out for me, helping me.
It was surprising how my new board was working. In the mushy slop of the place I surfed earlier, it was doing okay but didn't feel like anything special; but out in the more juicy peaks of Sandy's, the board felt lively and fast. Even one of the guys in my heat made the comment that my board seemed to be working well for me. The board definitely displayed a different side of itself at Sandy's.
Anyway, in the first round I placed 3rd and advanced. Then in the finals, of course, I ended up last, 6th, which is my regular spot. They should just name 6th place for me.
I was glad I went out and participated. Good camaraderie and fellowship.

Not Sure
Contest this morning at Sandy Beach. I don’t know if I want to go. It looks gloomy outside, and the waves probably are junk. Just not up to it. It's my day off, and I want to relax and stay home.

There's some size, about 1-3 with possibly some 4s. Windy and sloppy. Empty.
My new board was being difficult. Guess it's gonna take some time for me to adapt. It is similar in appearance to my Sadoy. It paddles well, as did my Sadoy, but I'm having a problem turning it, and I think this may be due to the fins.

Got It
Finally my new 6' 0" is ready to go. Just got back from WT's place. My 6' 9" was finished, too, but I didn't have the money to get both today. So, of course, I took the smaller one because my other 6' 0" was discarded several days ago--I had to dump it because it was dead--and I don’t have another high-performance shortboard to ride.
Let me fill you in. For the previous several days, I've been riding a friend's 6' 1" that was shaped by Yoshi. Apparently, he's one of WT's ghosties, and the board worked well for me, so I took it along when I went to pick up my board so that WT could examine it to get a better idea of what works for me. Why I thought it would be a good idea to do so is that it's so different from my 6' 0" Sadoy, which was the basis for my new 6' 0" WT.
WT said the Yoshi was similar to the K3. So, I'm going to see how this new 6' 0" performs, and then decide if the pending order I have in now should be a K3 or should simply be a clone of this new one. Are you with me?
I'm babbling, and that's because I'm excited to use my new board. I just put the deck pad on and will be heading to the beach real soon.

Home Sweet Home
Back from Turtle Bay. We were there for the weekend on an all-expenses paid vacation we received as a gift. Sorry, didn't tell you what was going on...I kinda disappeared, yes? Spent Friday, Saturday, and this morning on the North Shore. Surfed Pupukea Fri/Sat and Turtle Bay today. It sucked.
First, it was windy the entire time. Friday had some size and wasn't lining up. Difficult to punch through the inside and make it back out. Pretty empty, five other guys. Stayed out only about 45 minutes.
Saturday was much better. Slightly smaller, better conditions and form, but it was very crowded. Too many people and not nearly enough waves.
This morning, we had to check out by 11:00, so after breakfast in the room and some relaxation, I decided to go out right off the point. No one was out. It was junk. Bigger than yesterday but breaking all over the place. Caught two waves and went in.
I had a nice time despite my poor sessions. It was an opportunity to kick back and do nothing. It would've been awesome, of course, to have scored some good waves. Oh well, what can you do?
I'm glad to be back home, though. And now I'm hearing Town has some waves?

Small out of the SW (which is odd).
Update: I made a mistake. Should've written SE not SW (above). Hence, the strangeness of it because we're supposed to be getting a huge W-NW.
