Oh, and my new board is ready. It's a different model, the K3. The boards I've been riding for over a year, now, have all been the F6. I'm excited.

Post-session

It's slightly over-head at the biggest. Went out to the A-framer. It was crossed-up and section-y. Looked like my regular spot and the Right-hander were better, but they were crowded. Conditions were pretty good with calm-light SE winds.

My board works unreal with the Vector II 437s. I mean, really awesomely. Feels like I'm surfing only the board--that's the only way I can describe it--which is something I could discover only by stepping away from the regular Vectors. Prior, I had no way of knowing that the other templates were, in a sense, interfering or mitigating the performance of my board. In other words, I was trapped by them, and the only way I could see that is by actually leaving them and stepping into the world created by the IIs.

And what a wonderful world it is. My board seems to be able to even catch waves more easily, and it's more resistant to digging a rail or pearling. Not to mention that it's faster down-the-line. It also throws tons of water. But it's most remarkable characteristic is how it allows me to slice off-the-top in the pocket. It's mind-blowing.

Post-session

Surfed a right-hander this morning. You know the one: Breaks from the corner pocket on a north?

When we got there, it looked size-able and crowded. My friend said it was bigger than yesterday. So we were on it. As we walked on the beach, though, it didn't look so good. Definitely shutting down. No one making it through from the outside. Even the middle and inside were sectioning.

So we finally opted for the left-hander across the channel. About seven people there, compared with at least five times that many at the other place. We caught about four waves each, then couldn't resist the call, the beckoning, of that right-hander.

When we paddled over, the crowd thinned somewhat, especially the middle and inside areas. I caught two waves immediately and managed to snag some here and there on occasion. My friend, on the other hand, headed directly to the outside peak.

I had fun, I guess, although I wasn't satisfied. During the last half hour, it got super packed. The number of people doubled. Most waves had two or three people on it. That was it--I was done. And I knew it was getting hectic when during that last 30 minutes I saw and spoke to half a dozen guys I knew from my regular spot in Town. I mean, for me to know that many people in the water on the North Shore from back "home"--well, you get the idea.

Post-session

Satisfying time at the A-framer. Just me at first, then one of the regulars joined. Small and mushy (light SE breeze) but with good west-y angle.

I'm not kidding: my new Vector II 437s are incredible. They are changing my surfing. Truly.

And guess what? Actually planning to surf Country tomorrow morning with my friend. If it wasn't for his prodding, you know I'd never do it. Said he surfed a certain right-handed break today that likes the north angle, and it was going off.

Post-session

A-framer alone for about half an hour (total: 1.75 hrs.). At first I was enthused and amped because there was actually some rideable, albeit mushy and sloppy, bowl-ages coming in and because I had it to myself. But after the euphoria wore off, I was bored. It got junker, as the waves got inconsistent and smaller. It got really sloppy too--worse than earlier. And then it got crowded.

I've been using the Vector II 437s, and I can finally say they are awesome. It took some time to get used to them. I can't describe why they work well. All I can tell you is that I love them.

Well, let me try. They have a lot of drive. They have exceptional release. Seems like they allow more for the performance of the board to be realized instead of being a mitigating, or intervening, factor. I can put my board more fully on the rail, and it's very easy to do controlled fins-out or tail-slides.
